So I've made it to Hawaii. I started a blog dedicated just to life here on the island. I guess I can go back and forth writing the same thing but that takes away from my beach time...
Every day is a new day. Today is the first FULL day by myself, as my mom had to go back to Texas yesterday afternoon. I called her this morning 6am to make sure she made it safe, which she did. It was close to 11am Texas time and the first thing she asks me is "Why are you up so early?" lol Believe me, I wouldn't be up this early except for the fact that you had to travel 12 hours on a place by yourself and I needed to know you made it safely to the ground before I could go back to sleep. I had to pop two Tylenol PM, and for anybody who knows me, knows I don't do over the counter medicine usually. Well, that was my old life! This is my new life and I take Tylenol PM in Hawaii! =) I'm about to head to the beach. The tropical storm has ruined the last 3 days of beach time here, so It's time I catch up. I really hated that it rained while my mom was here helping me get set up =( She is supposed to return with my dad in November so hopefully the weather will be much better.
I just have to say this about Hawaii... normally I would consider myself a bird hater. I hate birds. I think they are gross and ugly and carry lots of diseases with them. The only birds I see in Texas are disgusting seagulls or mange infested blackbirds. However, in Hawaii, I really like the birds here. They are so pretty and don't hound you! They are so many colors and most of them are pretty small and chirp softly. They just go about their business looking cute as can be. Maybe I'm not a bird hater after all.

Looong Time No See...p.s It's Shark Week.
I have been sitting on the couch with Coy for the last 7 hours watching Shark Week on Animal Planet and it's only day ONE. This can't be good. Especially since this is my last week on the mainland and I have LOTS to do. Last week was Lindsey and Coy's week of fun and so it was!
SATURDAY: Yoga in the park + Bowling for Rhinos
SUNDAY: Astros Game (we lost...boo!)
MONDAY: Zoo
TUESDAY: San Jacinto Monument/Battleship
WEDNESDAY: Art Car Museum
THURSDAY: Dinner + Game Night at Layna's
FRIDAY: Gymboree + The Orange Show + Twelfth Night at Miller Outdoor Theatre
SATURDAY: Jimmy's Birthday Dinner + Game Night #2
SUNDAY: NOT A DARN THING. =)
It's been pretty productive to say the least. I'm trying to get all my Coy in before I leave for a bit. I'm also going to spend lots of time with my family and friends this week... I feel like I'm saying goodbye for possibly longer than 4 months. I mean, Ill be in Hawaii for 4 months, but I could get hired ANYWHERE in the US after that. Cross Fingers for Texas but who really knows.
I really wish I had a cool blog with cute font and lots of pics, but I don't know how! I'm not computer savvy by ANY stretch of the imagination. I hope while I'm on the Island I'll figure it out so all my friends and family can catch up on what I'm doing. And I'll take LOTS of pictures while I'm there! I really should figure it out cause my blog blows right now.... =(
I'm going to try and take pine-bark extract before I leave. My mom gave me an article that says it supposed to be a jet-lag remedy... hmmm. It's natural so I guess I'll try it. I HATE FLYING (ugh!) I pray every night that I will land safe and sound and not be crazy the whole 11 hour flight. I just like being on the ground, plain and simple. Please pray for me and my mom as we fly there and for her as she returns....
Well, there is a new Design Star on tonight and I'm a little worried about all my TV shows I have to keep up with while I'm over there. Time difference, channel's are funky, no DVR!, Cable in general??. Yikes. I think I may have to buy DVR... I can't remember life very well without it =)
This beautiful life is more than I can ask for, more than I deserve and I am grateful for every person who has been a part of it thus far. I feel like I'm leaving to get a closer look at myself not to get away. I'm thinking about buying a devotional book for me and Coy so every night we can discuss them together and left each other up.
Off for now...

P.Y.T in Hawaii
So it's been a while!
First and foremost... Michael Jackson is no longer with us =( It's been about 2 weeks now but It's still super sad. I have a way of separating the professional from the individual person so MJ is not a weirdo who was accused of sleeping with children or hanging his own over a balcony. MJ to me is pure genius. The most amazing performer and artist along side the Beatles that ever lived. My generation is not the Jackson 5 or Thriller generation but if you know good music you can not deny how RIDICULOUSLY genuis he was. And good for me, I know great music and have been a Michael Jackson fan for a while and always will be. I'm not fanatical about him, but I am truly sad about the whole situation and think it was a really crappy way to go out. He is in the book of world records for supporting the most charities by a pop star. Whether you like him or not, you can not deny his out of control talent and love for humanity. RIP MJ... this P.Y.T will jam to your prodigious music forever.
Speaking of celeb gossip, Oprah doesn't take part in the Make a Wish Foundation. While working at MD Anderson, we have several patients who wished to meet her, but she doesn't participate because she has her own foundation and tends to those children only. I love Oprah, but that's a bunch of crap and I don't care who you are, you should never deny a child who has a life threatening illness. Enough said.
Well, I found my place in Hawaii!!! It's super cute. Or as Rose's mom likes to say "Swanky" =)
I leave in less than a month and am super stoked about it. I have had lots to do a bazillion phone calls to make/faxes/emails to do but it's all coming together. I went through a slight "what the hell am I doing" phase, especially with mine and Coy's relationship and the possibilities (good and bad) that may occur, but I think I'm good now and have to trust that this was the best decsion for me. It is an opporunity that I may not ever be able to expereince, and I can only hope that this will enhance my outlook on life and myself as an individual, give me the tools that are neccessary in my career and that distance makes the heart grow fonder. It will be difficult to be so far from my family and everything I know. But it's Hawaii, and a time to be completely independent...this can be nothing but good for me. I trust God and know he will be with me...

Hawaii.
Im moving to Hawaii. I absolutely can not believe it! It's one of those things that you dream about and think how amazing it would be but never really get around to doing it. Well, Im actually doing it. With A LOT of excitement and some nervousness =/ At first I was "HECK YA! IM MOVING TO HAWAII!!! And then today I though "Woah, I'm moving to Hawaii...by myself." Im going to miss everybody so much but I honestly could not give up this opportunity. It's not going to be all beaches and bikinis (unfortunately)... I mean, Im going for work ultimately. I will be working a lot, but Im sure ill find time to do a little bit of everything =)
Im not sure exactly what transportation I will have. Im really considering just getting a bike and riding around everywhere. And when I go grocery shopping, ill put a little basket on my bike! haha. I guess Ill figure out all the details along the way (it is currently 2 months before I leave).
Where am I going to live? I dunno. As you can imagine, my parents weren't exactly thrilled about the idea of me leaving the mainland... as I also got accepted to San Antonio, but it wasn't really a choice for me. I knew what I wanted. So now we have like 2378384 things to figure out before I leave, but as soon as I step foot on the Island... little will matter anymore.

Georgia Peaches
I am sitting in a Best Western in Savannah, GA reviewing for my interview tomorrow morning! Eeeek!
I love Savannah. I was here once before about 6 months ago on our fab 5 road trip and loved it then. I'm super nervous but I feel like I'm prepared as I'll ever be...
While I was here in January, the tour guide lady told us that there is only ONE county in Georgia that even grows peaches!!! Can you believe that? It's on your state sign for crying out loud and in like 2387273 songs and you don't even really grow the damn things. =/ Disappointed.
We were in Pensacola this morning and sat on the beach and ate lunch and drank a few Corona's. It was FABULOUS. We decided that on our way back, we are going to wake up early one morning and go lay out and beach it for a few hours before we have to come back home. =) Very happy.
I have to say once again I have the greatest boyfriend in the world. He came along without any complaints and we have had so much fun together. He is currently watching The First 48... our show of choice before we go to bed every night. Creepy, I know... but it's so addicting.
WISH ME LUCK!!!!

$5 foot long
So much has happened in the last few weeks! I just got done eating the first half of my $5 foot long. I will have the rest tommorow for lunch...can't beat that deal.
So me and Coy went to the Rockets playoff game against the Lakers for game 6, and we won! It was super exciting. I have to admit that I really like the lakers. They are like top 5 for sure... so I cheered fairly. BUT I have been in love with Yao since day one so I wore my Yao jersey that I bought my Jr. year in highschool. I have to say that Im pretty excited it still fits just the same =) So after such an amazing game 6... we lost game 7. boo.
I have had 7 call backs for interviews for the fall semester internship which I am STOKED about!!! I had 2 phone interviews yesterday (Savannah, GA & Tampa, FL) and Georgia called me back for round 3! Now I have to book my plane ticket out to Georgia within the next two weeks. YIPEE! I have 3 more interviews over the next 2 weeks, one which includes HAWAII! I have such mixed feelings about where I want to be. I want to stay in Houston because my family is here, Coy and of course my Hunter bear.... but I just LONG for experience!!!. I want to GO PLACES! I want to see the whole world eventually. I know my family and Coy will be here when I get back, so I need to do what's in my heart and GET OUT OF HERE! I pray that God has it in his plans for me to travel the world while I'm young. Wherever I go, I know Coy will visit... but I also know I am going to miss him dearly everyday and probably cry a lot of tears. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, I might just end up in Houston. Who knows.
I sure don't... but I serve a God who DOES. And he knows what is best for me. And everyday he prepares me for whatever lies ahead... so I know I'm in good hands.
I'm getting ready for my internship at MD Anderson but can't help but think where I want to go on vacation when I finish!! I think I'll end up in the Bahamas sometime in July with the girls. I need to get on the ball planning, but I'm so busy right now... it's out of control.
This is my last week with my kiddo teaching deaf ed. I'm REALLY going to miss them. I love them dearly and have had the best time being a small part of their lives. My last day is our field trip so I'm going out with a bang.

Good TV
I finally finished my applications for fall! ya!! Technically I have finished but I'm now doing round 2 bullhonkey which includes more writing and selling myself. Selling myself has to be one of the things I HATE doing most after college. NOW, I have to convince you that I am the most expereinced, hardworking, educated, able to acquire new skills easily, goal oriented, self-motivated effective communicator (and so much more) while still showing that I have so much to learn and would love the opportunity to work for you. ????? Ugh. Just meet me, and you can get a pretty good idea of who I am just by talking to me for an hour. I am who I am in an interview, which I have to say has worked out for me so far. I'm not about "I I I I I I I " I am able to admit the areas I need to work on but in all honesty I have like a 95% success rate in my life so far... which is comforting. I'm feeling good about where I am. Still lovin the job. Stoked about starting at MD Anderson. Not so stoked about a possible 18 interviews within the next month. Still in love and think I could possibly have the most loving/caring boy in the world. Anxious to see where I will be in the fall (Honolulu anyone??!?!?!?!?) AND............ It's GREAT TV FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS! American Idol is coming to an end, Biggest Loser finale!, Americas Next Top Model coming to an end, Amazing Race finale! and I can officially start the countdown til PROJECT RUNWAY! Life is good.

Deaf Jam
--Non-fat Black Tea Lattes have to be one of the best things in the world. I can't afford to go to Starbucks everyday so I bought all the supplies to make them myself. I use Tazo tea (early grey or awake) Low-fat milk or Soy milk and a teaspoon of honey. I put it in a blender (because a latte isn't a latte without the FOAM!) I'm not going to lie, they don't taste identical to Starbucks but they are cheaper to make and I think they are still delicious.
--I'm teaching 1st and 2nd grade deaf education for the next 6 weeks and I absolutly love it. It makes me nervous that I like it so much because that's not what I went to school for and NOT what I am pursuing at the time. It was more like a job in the meantime in order to make some money.... I am starting my internship at MD Anderson in a month and I'm super excited, but I am really going to miss teaching my kiddos. =( How do they expect you at the age of 23 to know what you want to do??? I want to do A LOT of things, but hopefully after the internship I will really get a feel for where I belong. There is something about sign language that I just adore. I am in love with the culture, the language, the people... everything.
Whatever I do, I know it will involve sign language. It's a part of me now.

Sick
Great. Right when the weather is absolutely perfect...I get sick.
I'm a 90 degrees NO wind kind of girl and a huge outsider (not as in loser)... I LOVE to be outside! That is why I DEPERATELY MISS MY BELOVED AUSTIN. TX!!! Ugh. Nothing is worst then coming back to the city you hated once before to find out.... you still hate it. No dog parks, No great cafe's, No people jogging, No beach volleyball right around the corner, Nothing of anything that I love doing. Can you hear the hostility in my writing??? Do you know how ridiculous I would look if I set up my easel outside and started painting here in Pasadena or even Houston for that matter? But in Austin, nobody ever questioned or took a double take. It was perfectly normal.
I need to find a way to like (dare I say love) this city. I really need to start finding all the wonderful things about Houston that will keep me alive in this town. I know it will never be Austin, but maybe, just maybe one day I could say I'm proud to be from Houston.
I'm such a brat.

Ok So I've decided to join the rest of the world and become a blogger. I had so much I wanted to say but I've spent the last hour or more trying to figure this whole thing out that now I'm exhausted and find little enjoyment in writing right now. boo.
I'm pretty excited about figuring this whole blog thing out. Not that I think anyone will even read my blogs but I've always wanted to put my thought down on paper but never took the time or energy to do so.
I feel like I am at a point in my life where I have so much I want to do, places I want to go, dreams I want to accomplish etc etc. and I'm just stuck. I know I am doing EVERYTHING possible to be the successful woman I want to be, and some would say I already am somewhat successful, but I have BIGGER plans and they aren't unfolding exactly the way I want ...or really as fast as I want. I need to learn to be patient. breeeathe.
My best friend Stacy is here from Dallas and I'm super excited, I love her to death. We went through pretty much the exact same expereinces in HS. You know, the crappy boyfriend, the break up, the next crappy boyfriend and so on.... We are pretty much inseparable now.
I am not the person I was 6 months or even a year ago. I think that's why I want to do this blog. New me, new things, and new blogs to capture it all.
